Happy New Year! Interim HealthCare of West Palm Beach FL is sharing seven New Year’s Resolutions to bring health, joy and peace to your life in 2023.
-
Get involved in a social community.
According to lssliving.org, staying social “can improve emotional, intellectual, and physical wellness.” Find a way to get involved in your local community. Whether it’s a small group at your church or local non-profit organization, take time to establish relationships and invest in peoples’ lives.
-
Engage your mind.
Participate in activities like gardening, reading books and working on puzzles.
-
Exercise
According to the cdc.gov, “adults aged 65 and older need at least 150 minutes a week (for example, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week) of moderate intensity activity such as brisk walking. Or they need 75 minutes a week of vigorous-intensity activity such as hiking, jogging, or running.” Physical activity “helps maintain the ability to live independently and reduces the risk of falling and fracturing bones.”
-
Practice gratitude and stillness
Take time each day to be still and write a list for everything you're grateful for. Remind yourself throughout the day of your blessings.
-
Stay connected with loved ones
Keep in touch with your loved ones by calling and visiting regularly.
-
Organize important documents
Prepare, organize and store important financial, health care, end-of-life and estate planning, life-insurance policies, wills, and related documents. Inform a trusted family member where the documents are located.
-
Declutter
Go through your belongings and decide which items you want to keep, discard or donate.
