New Year’s Resolution ideas for seniors in 2023

Happy New Year! Interim HealthCare of West Palm Beach FL is sharing seven New Year’s Resolutions to bring health, joy and peace to your life in 2023.

  1. Get involved in a social community.

According to, staying social “can improve emotional, intellectual, and physical wellness.” Find a way to get involved in your local community. Whether it’s a small group at your church or local non-profit organization, take time to establish relationships and invest in peoples’ lives.

  2. Engage your mind.

Participate in activities like gardening, reading books and working on puzzles.

  3. Exercise

According to the, “adults aged 65 and older need at least 150 minutes a week (for example, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week) of moderate intensity activity such as brisk walking. Or they need 75 minutes a week of vigorous-intensity activity such as hiking, jogging, or running.” Physical activity “helps maintain the ability to live independently and reduces the risk of falling and fracturing bones.”

  4. Practice gratitude and stillness

Take time each day to be still and write a list for everything you're grateful for. Remind yourself throughout the day of your blessings.

  5. Stay connected with loved ones

Keep in touch with your loved ones by calling and visiting regularly.

  6. Organize important documents

Prepare, organize and store important financial, health care, end-of-life and estate planning, life-insurance policies, wills, and related documents. Inform a trusted family member where the documents are located.

  7. Declutter

Go through your belongings and decide which items you want to keep, discard or donate.
